Information you give us

Several forms on this site collect information directly from you: a strategy call request, an assessment report request, a speaking inquiry, a podcast guest application, the Better, Faster newsletter sign-up, and the free registration for pages that need an access code. Each asks for your name and email address, and depending on the form, your company and a short description of what you want to discuss.

If you complete one of the readiness assessments, we also receive your answers to every statement in that assessment, along with your scores.

We use this to reply to you, to prepare for a conversation, and, if you sign up for it, to send you the newsletter. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone for their own marketing.

The newsletter

If you sign up for Better, Faster, your name and email address are held by our email newsletter platform so it can send you each issue. Like most newsletter platforms, it records whether an issue was delivered and opened and which links were clicked. Every issue has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all of it.

Access codes

Some pages, including The Playbook and the Springboard Toolkit, open after a free registration. You give your name and email address, and if you like, your company. You then receive a nine-digit access code by email. The code is worked out from your email address and opens every page that asks for one. Registering also signs you up for the Better, Faster newsletter.

When you register or use a code, we receive the code, the email address you gave, the page, the time, the browser you used, an approximate location (city and country) worked out from your internet address, a random identifier this site saves in your browser so we can tell your devices apart, and how you arrived at the site, as described in the next section. If you use a code that was given to someone else, we record that it was passed along and who it came from. Later visits to these pages from the same browser are counted against your code.

This lets us see which tools are useful to the people who use them, and follow up where it helps. Your browser remembers your code so you are not asked again. You can clear that by clearing your browser's site data for this site.

How we know where you came from

When you arrive here, a small record is saved in your own browser noting the page you landed on, the site or link that referred you, the date, and any campaign labels attached to the link you clicked. It stays on your device. It is only sent to us if you submit one of the forms above, register for or use an access code, or follow a link to a page that does not exist, and then it arrives attached to that submission so we know which article, email, or post brought you here. Reports of missing pages help us fix broken links.

You can clear that record at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this site.

If you arrive from one of our email newsletters, the link may carry an identifier that our email platform assigns to your subscription. If you then submit a form, that identifier comes with it, which means we can connect your visit to your subscription. If you would rather it did not, remove everything after the question mark in the web address before loading the page, or unsubscribe from the newsletter.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics to count visits and to see which pages people read and which links brought them here. It is cookieless and aggregate. It stores nothing on your device and does not follow you to other websites. The one exception to aggregate counting is pages that need an access code, where a page view is recorded with the code used, as described above. Plausible is an independent company in the European Union and the data for this site is processed and stored there. We use no advertising networks and no tracking cookies, and we do not build profiles of anonymous visitors.

Videos

Podcast episodes and LinkedIn Live sessions on this site include YouTube videos. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. Once you do, the video plays through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and YouTube, which is part of Google, handles that playback under its own privacy policy.

Who else handles your information

A small number of services are involved in running this site. Vercel hosts the site, and like any web host, its servers record standard technical information about requests, including IP addresses. Resend delivers the emails generated by the forms and access codes. Our email newsletter platform holds newsletter subscriptions. Plausible Analytics provides the visit counts described above. YouTube plays videos you choose to watch. Google Workspace holds our email and business records, including the record of access codes. Each of these handles information only in order to provide its service to us.

How long we keep it

Form submissions, assessment results, and access records are kept for as long as we might reasonably be in touch about them, which for this kind of work can run to years. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Ask us to delete any of it and we will.

Access and deletion

Write to info@eckfeldt.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. There is no form and no process to navigate. Just ask.

Children

This site is intended for a business audience and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or who handles it, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
